Why is aluminium considered an eco-sustainable material?

Aluminium is a material with extraordinary intrinsic characteristics. For this reason, it is increasingly used in industrial production as a substitute for many other metals. One of its main features is its eco-sustainability. By definition, eco-sustainable means anything that ensures that future generations can rely on resources equal to those available today, including through the preservation of the environment.

This issue has become a decisive factor in companies’ production strategies. In fact, Takler, with the opening of an entire plant dedicated to aluminium processing (in particular extrusion), is increasingly focusing in a sustainable direction. Aluminium is a virtuous material because it is lightweight, strong, ductile, durable, has superior performance compared to many other metals and, last but not least, is 100% recyclable.

For this reason, aluminium has become a symbol representing the social and environmental commitment of industry. In fact, aluminium scraps can be reused “circularly” an infinite number of times, leading to significant economic savings. From this scrap it is possible to obtain new material for production using only 5% of the electricity that would be needed to produce aluminium from raw material. Recycling aluminium therefore saves 95% in energy (and thus CO2) and, consequently, in costs.

The share of aluminium from recycling, compared to the total amount of material produced worldwide each year, is constantly increasing. Italy ranks among the top nations in the world for recycling activities, after the United States and Japan. Other important results are achieved through the use of aluminium in the construction of industrial vehicles and in the transport sector in general, where the lightness of construction materials is a key factor in reducing consumption and the resulting exhaust gas emissions. Furthermore, lighter vehicles significantly reduce risks and damage in case of accidents.

In the construction sector too, especially in bio-architecture, the high environmental compatibility of aluminium is exploited to design eco-sustainable environments. To request a quote for customised solutions or for any other information, contact us.
